Hey Friend!
I am a Nutritional Therapy and subconscious healing practitioner, autoimmune survivor, and straight talking mom of two who got tired of being told her labs were "normal." If you are ready to stop managing and start actually healing, I think we are going to get along just fine.

The Science Behind Releasing Trapped Emotions (And Why It Actually Makes Sense)
Have you ever felt like you were carrying weight you couldn’t quite explain? Like something from your past was quietly pulling the strings on your mood, your relationships, or even your physical health, and you couldn’t figure out why?
If so, you’re not alone. And that’s exactly the kind of mystery the Emotion Code solves.
Dr. Bradley Nelson is a holistic chiropractor and energy medicine practitioner who spent decades working with patients whose symptoms didn’t respond to conventional treatment. Again and again, he noticed something curious: unresolved emotional experiences seemed to be showing up as real, physical problems in the body.
After years of clinical practice and research, he developed the Emotion Code, a structured method for identifying and releasing what he calls trapped emotions. He then published his findings in the book The Emotion Code, which has since become a foundational text in the energy healing world.
Here’s where it gets nerdy and fun.
Think of your body like a highly sophisticated biocomputer. Every experience you have, every heartbreak, every moment of fear, every wave of grief, generates an emotional frequency. Most of the time, your system processes that energy and moves on. But sometimes? It doesn’t.
When an emotional experience is too intense, too sudden, or happens while your system is already overwhelmed, the emotional energy can get stuck in the body’s tissues and energy field. Dr. Nelson calls these trapped emotions, and according to his model, they’re not just metaphorical. In fact, they’re literal energetic disturbances that continue to influence your body’s chemistry, nervous system, and magnetic field long after the triggering event is over.
A good way to picture it: imagine a splinter. Invisible from the outside, but quietly causing inflammation, sensitivity, and dysfunction under the surface.
Here’s where quantum physics enters the chat.
Every cell in your body generates an electromagnetic field. The heart alone produces a field measurable several feet outside your body, and the HeartMath Institute has documented this extensively. Moreover, researchers increasingly study the biofield, the body’s complex, dynamic energy field, in mainstream scientific circles.
Traditional Chinese medicine has long mapped the body’s energy flow through meridians, invisible channels through which life force (called qi) travels. Western science has been slow to embrace this framework, but mounting evidence suggests these pathways correspond to fascia networks and electrical conductivity patterns in the body.
Specifically, the Emotion Code zeroes in on one meridian: the Governing Meridian. This energetic superhighway runs from your upper lip, over the crown of your head, and down your spine. Practitioners regard it as the master channel, the one that influences all others.
And this is where the magnet comes in.
Yes. And here’s why it makes more sense than it sounds.
Your body runs entirely on electrical impulses — the heart beats because of electrical signals, and neurons fire the same way. Naturally, then, magnetic fields influence electrical fields. That’s basic physics. In fact, doctors already use magnets in mainstream medicine for bone healing, pain management, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for depression. MRI machines work on the same principle.
In the Emotion Code, the practitioner rolls a magnet intentionally along the Governing Meridian after identifying a trapped emotion. The magnet amplifies the intention to release, acting as a kind of energetic signal to the subconscious that says: let this go. Think of it as sending a reset command through your body’s energetic operating system.
Through a process called muscle testing, also known as applied kinesiology.
Here’s the fun part: your body is a remarkably honest system. When you make a true statement, your muscles tend to hold strong. With a false statement, however, they subtly weaken. This isn’t magic, it’s a measurable neurological response tied to how the body processes congruence and incongruence at a subconscious level.
Practitioners use this response to ask the body a series of yes/no questions, cross-referencing a Chart of Emotions that Dr. Nelson developed. It covers 60 specific emotions organized by organ systems based on Chinese medicine. Through this process, practitioners can pinpoint which trapped emotion is present, where it lives in the body, and what event it connects to, often without the client needing to relive or even consciously remember the experience.
That’s the part that tends to make people’s jaws drop.
One of the most compelling concepts Dr. Nelson introduced is the Heart Wall.
When we experience deep emotional pain — betrayal, loss, or chronic stress — the subconscious mind sometimes builds a protective barrier around the heart using trapped emotional energies. It’s a defense mechanism, and honestly, a smart one in the short term. Over time, though, this wall blocks your ability to give and receive love freely, creates feelings of numbness or disconnection, and contributes to physical symptoms in the chest and heart area.
Clients who clear a Heart Wall often describe it as one of the most profound energetic shifts they’ve ever experienced, feeling lighter, more open, and more themselves than they have in years.
The Emotion Code isn’t about bypassing your emotions or pretending the hard stuff didn’t happen. Instead, it’s about finally letting your body complete the emotional cycle it started, so that old energy stops running the show in your present life.
So whether you’re navigating anxiety, repeating relationship patterns, physical symptoms without clear cause, or just a persistent sense that something feels off, there may be trapped emotions underneath worth exploring.
At Rise of Ivy, we use the Emotion Code as part of a holistic, heart-centered approach to healing. Sessions are gentle, non-invasive, and we can even work with you remotely. (The energy doesn’t care about zip codes, and that’s another wild and wonderful fact.)
If you’re curious about what might be ready to release, we’d love to support you.
